S-Power Up For College Success

Power Up is a one-credit course for incoming UMass students, in which you will learn the skills that lead to success in college in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Not only will you be introduced to college life at UMass and understand the skills required to succeed in college, but you will start the academic year with an established network of friends. No matter how well you did in high school, UMass presents a new set of challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Like most entering students, you may have many questions and concerns about your future college experience, such as: How can I succeed academically? How can I become involved on campus? What major should I choose? How can I meet people and make friends? What are the resources that UMass offers? How do I find the information about campus that I need?

The program is designed to help answer these and many other questions. As part of the program, you will participate in a small class of no more than 25 students, receiving personal attention and individual feedback. Get to know other students and develop college-level learning skills.
