The Chapel is a popular destination for events and our schedule fills quickly. Check out our event calendar for general availability. Make sure to plan in advance to secure your spot.

General Information
An off-campus event is any event requested by a member of the community not affiliated with UMass. Please note below if your group is an RSO.
Click here if this event is for a Registered Student Organization on the UMass Amherst Campus.
Enter your UMass department’s six-digit Speed Type number or enter “non-university” if you are not sponsored by the university or if you are from off-campus seeking to rent the space.

Let us know what you are envisioning for your event or the official event summary. If this is a public event, please note this description will be posted on our website.
Public events will appear on our events calendar. Private events will be blocked out on our calendar without additional details shown.
Maximum capacity in the Great Hall for a reception is 200, 168 for a theater set, and 96 for a seated meal. Maximum capacity in the Conference Room is 12. Maximum capacity in the Multi-Purpose Room for a reception is 100, 100 for a theater set, and 64 for a seated meal. Capacity varies depending on room setup. This can be a range if current totals are unknown.

Let us know what other dates your event will need space at Old Chapel. If your request is confirmed, you may be asked to fill out this form for the additional dates unless your event details are the same for each date.
When you would like to get into the space to start any setup? Please note that the earliest setup time is 8 AM and that this time is not for registration or breakfasts without prior permission from the Old Chapel manager.

Great Hall Reservation
The second floor's Great Hall in Old Chapel is our primary venue for a variety of events with ample seating and a raised stage. Audience setup can accommodate 168 guests, reception up to 200 guests, and a plated dinner with a bar can seat up to 96. Additional capacity limitations may apply depending on furniture setup. 
Please select the setup that matches your preferred setup for your event. Old Chapel has various example setups to select from, or we can help you design a floor-plan that best matches your event.
If the A/V equipment is present at Old Chapel, then the client must use Old Chapel A/V. If we do not have what is needed for your event, then please select "Bringing Equipment" option for further discussion with the Old Chapel manager. Additional charges may apply.

Do you plan on having food and/or beverages for your event?
Let us know if you plan to use UMass Catering or an outside caterer. Please note that if you use outside catering, it should be drop-off only and the client will be responsible for all cleanup when the event is finished. Improper clean up may result in catering limitations for future bookings.
Please note that all liquor licenses are subject to approval and require at least a month to secure.
Multi-Purpose Room Reservation
The first floor MPR is home to New Student Admissions and Student Study Space from 9 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This room is bookable as an add on to any Great Hall reservations after 5 PM on the weekdays, and from 9 AM - 9 PM on the weekends. Audience setup can accommodate 100 guests, reception up to 100 guests, and a plated dinner with a bar can seat up to 48. Additional capacity limitations may apply depending on furniture setup. 
If you are booking the Multi-Purpose Room after 5 PM on the weekdays or between 9 AM and 9 PM on the weekends, you can request the use of the MPR with this form.
