In focus group discussions, in open-ended survey responses, and as alums looking back at their University experience, UMass Amherst students praise the range of opportunities available to them at the University. At the same time, they describe the choices available to them as sometimes overwhelming, and they look for guidance in how to select pathways and opportunities that will best help them develop and excel.

We draw from a range of studies about the opportunities available to students, the types of choices students make, and the quality of those experiences to inform improvements to student support, programming, academic offerings, and institutional climate.
