Instructional Innovation Assessment

Enhancing students' engagement in their learning is a priority for UMass Amherst. The University supports a number of initiatives to advance active learning pedagogies. To inform these initiatives, ASER conducts course-based assessments of active learning in large lecture-based courses, of Team-Based Learning Initiatives, and other instructional innovation efforts.

ASER is also partnering with the Special Assistant to the Provost for Educational Initiatives, a Teaching Evaluation Working Group, and a number of academic departments on a pilot project to design a new approach to the evaluation of teaching. The campus was recently awarded an NSF grant to support this work.
