Department TEval Report: Music and Dance

The Music and Dance department (Year One) is addressing the TEval goals as follows.

The mentoring program in the department of Music and Dance began in 2018-19 with junior faculty observation by a senior faculty member.  Created to provide teaching support, to monitor progress towards tenure and/or promotion, and to provide guidance on developing a trajectory for scholarship and creative activities, observations are followed by a meeting between the observee and the observer, with reports being sent to the chair.  A proposal to expand the current program to include all full-time department faculty will be presented to the department. Some of the goals for senior faculty members (including associate and full professors and senior lecturers) include strategies for progressing into leadership opportunities and/or the transition to full professor or senior lecturer and to share both new and time-tested strategies for effective teaching.
