Department TEval Report: Information and Computer Sciences

The Information and Computer Sciences department (Year One) is addressing the TEval goals as follows.

Information and Computer Sciences's (CICS) efforts in TEval center around peer evaluation, cohort building, and syllabus review. For peer evaluation, we have piloted work with teaching assistants and faculty that comprises pre-observation discussion of goals, the observation itself, and a follow-up meeting to talk about what was learned. The TEval team is leading a regular series of discussion around issues related to teaching. These discussions include topics specifically drawn from the TEval project, with the aim of building a stronger community related to teaching and of socializing TEval ideas that are foreign to the faculty. Finally, we have begun an effort to collect course syllabi and statements of learning goals in preparation for analyzing their content (with the goal of improving things for now and possible evaluation in the future).
