A full fall semester or three-week winter session program abroad for undergraduate nursing students.
Who is this program for?
There are two options for studying abroad in Nicosia, Cyprus:
- Full fall semester program (15 credits) for third-semester (sophomore) UMass nursing students.
- Three-week winter session program (4 credits) for any undergraduate UMass nursing or SPHHS student.

Winter Session Program
Topics in Cross-Cultural Healthcare (4 credits)
- Compare and contrast healthcare systems across different countries, analyzing their strengths, challenges and implications for health outcomes.
- Examine the cultural, historical, social/political, economic and environmental influences on health beliefs, behaviors, practices and their impact on nursing practice in an international setting.
- Evaluate the relationship between diet, nutrition, and health outcomes in diverse cultural contexts.
- Demonstrate cultural understanding through engaging in interprofessional and local community activities and exchanges in an international setting.
Where will my courses be held?
Courses are developed by EMCON faculty and delivered by local instructors at UNIC (University of Nicosia).
How much does it cost?
You may think that studying abroad is financially out of reach, but in fact, we make the total cost as close to an in-state semester on campus at UMass Amherst as we can! Compare UMass Amherst semester fees with study abroad semester fees. Please note: a number of different merit and needs-based scholarships are also available! Financial aid can be used for study abroad.
- Program fee: $16,500
- IPO Admin fee: $985 for fall semester
