Sigma Honor Society of Nursing Beta Zeta at-Large Chapter


The Sigma Honor Society of Nursing was established in 1922 to advance nursing excellence in scholarship and practice. Sigma now has more than 135,000 active members in 530 chapters in more than 90 countries.

The UMass Amherst College of Nursing is a member of the Beta Zeta at-Large Chapter of Sigma.  Beta Zeta -- the 52nd Sigma chapter -- was formed in 1972 and now includes American International College, Elms College, The University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Westfield State University. Bay Path University has begun the application process to become a member of the chapter.

Beta Zeta connects its members to opportunities to develop scholarship, leadership skills and global networking with nurses all around the world via monthly live and teleconferencing meetings.  

College of Nursing Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Master’s Degree and Certificate Programs Mary Ellen Burke, DNP, MSN, RN, CNM is the current President of the Beta Zeta Chapter.
