Welcome Parents, Families, Guardians, and Supporters!
We know that the start of college is an exciting time not only for new students, but also for their parents, family, and supporters. Whether it’s the first or fifth family member to take this step, each time is different, and families have many hopes, concerns, and questions about their student embarking on a career at UMass Amherst.
We offer Ready for the U sessions for parents, family, guardians, supporters, and friends. This gives us an opportunity to welcome you and share information about academics, campus life, and how to best support your student. Our goal is to answer your questions and give you the resources you need to help make your student’s transition as smooth as possible.
Ready for the U is designed for new students and the adults who support their college transition. New students are able to invite two guests after they complete their own registration for Ready for the U. Siblings, cousins, and other younger family members interested in learning about UMass or what the college experience is like are better served by attending Family Weekend than by registering for Ready for the U.
