Welcome Parents, Families, Guardians, and Supporters!
We know that the start of college is an exciting time not only for new students, but also for their parents, family, and supporters. Whether it’s the first or fifth family member to take this step, each time is different, and families have many hopes, concerns, and questions about their student embarking on a career at UMass Amherst.
We offer Ready for the U sessions for parents, family, guardians, supporters, and friends in collaboration with the Office of Parent Services. This gives us an opportunity to welcome you and share information about academics, campus life, and how to best support your student. We’ve also designed a parent/family checklist to help you keep track of all the important “to-do’s” leading up to Ready for the U. Our goal is to answer your questions and give you the resources you need to help make your student’s transition as smooth as possible.
Ready for the U is designed for new students and the adults who support their college transition. New students were able to invite two guests after they complete their own registration for Ready for the U. Siblings, cousins, and other younger family members interested in learning about UMass or what the college experience is like are better served by attending Family Weekend than by registering for Ready for the U.
Update as of June 28, 2022: At this time only online Ready for the U sessions have space available. Please know that if your student invited you to register for a Ready for the U session, the invitation alone will not let you attend any session, registration is required. Unfortunately, due to reaching the capacity of our reserved venues, the on campus sessions are now full. We are unable to take advanced or onsite registrations for the on campus sessions. If you would like to participate in Ready for the U, be sure to register now for the available online sessions to reserve your spot.
