All 2020 Fall Welcome events are completely virtual and will be delivered on a variety of platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and YouTube livestreaming. Be sure to check each listing for advance registration or event links. Some event links will not be available until 24 hours prior to the event, so please check back often for updates.

Thursday, August 20

12 noon - 1 p.m. EST | Live Boot Camp with Campus Recreation

This class mixes strength, cardio, HIIT and core circuits using only your body and maybe some household items to target the entire body as we sweat and de-stress. Get ready to warm up and work together! See below for registration details

7 - 8:30 p.m. EST | Get Your Game On

Join the Library, UMass IT and other new students for a variety of games and activities. | Register in advance for the Get Your Game On Zoom link.

9 - 9:30 a.m. EST | Live Virtual Meditation with Campus Recreation

What is guided meditation? Guided meditation is simply "meditation with the help of a guide". It’s one of the easiest ways to enter into a state of deep relaxation and inner stillness, and it’s one of the most powerful ways to eliminate stress and bring about positive personal changes.  We hope you will join us on this journey towards personal wellbeing, inner peace and joy. A Space for conversation, reflection, unity, and healing. Follow @studentbridges for more info and link to sessions.

8 p.m. EST | LOL @ UMass: Comedians Melissa Villasenor and Ego Nwodim

Tune into this live comedy show just for UMass students! | Log in to Microsoft Teams using your UMass Amherst IT account. If you haven't used Microsoft Teams before, be sure you can successfully log in before the show starts on Friday. You may need to reset your UMass IT password in order to log in. | Use this attendee link to access the live event on Friday night!

10 a.m. EST | Live Yoga Class

Baptiste Power Yoga will tone, strengthen and rinse your body, clear your mind and leave you with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. The dynamic mix of sweat and spirit that is cultivated in a Power Yoga class will challenge you to step up to your edge, and unlock your hidden potential for achieving authentic personal power and living an extraordinary life. 5:30 p.m. EST | Honors College Induction Ceremony

The Honors College begins each fall semester with an induction ceremony. This time-honored tradition is a way for each member of our community to celebrate and thank new students and families for choosing to share their UMass journey with us. | View the pre-recorded ceremony on the honors college website. 

6 - 8 p.m. EST | Workshop Series 

Choose one of these interactive workshops to kickoff your semester:

9 a.m. EST | Virtual Vinyasa Yoga with Campus Recreation

Vinyasa (translates to “flowing with breath”) is a dynamic style of Hatha yoga that blends physical postures, or asanas, with breath, creating a steady internal rhythm for the practice. See below for registration details

Register for Campus Rec

To register for group fitness classes including Boot Camp, Yoga, and Virtual Meditation or intramural sports activities you will need to create an account on IMLeagues using your UMASS email at www.imleagues.com

  • You must create your account from the website not the mobile app. 
  • When creating an account you will need to search for UMASS Amherst to join the proper network.
  • Once you have created your account you will receive an email to verify the account.
  • Once you verify your account you can download the IMLeagues app to your smartphone.

To register for opening group fitness classes:

  • From the app
