Hello UMass Families! We are so happy to have seen many UMass Families at the 2024 Family Weekend at University of Massachusetts Amherst! This special event is designed to celebrate the unique bond between families and the university community while providing you with a deeper insight into your student’s journey. Information about 2025 Family Weekend will be available in spring 2025.

2025 Family Weekend Information 

Information regarding 2025 Family Weekend, including dates, registration, and schedules, will be released in the spring of 2025. Until then, read on to learn about what was available for Family Weekend in 2024!

2024 Family Weekend took place Friday, October 25 – Sunday, October 27!

1. Family Fest: Check-in for Family Weekend, pick up your merch, enjoy a snack, play games, and take a celebratory photo.
2. Campus Tours: Explore our beautiful campus through guided tours and discover the various academic and recreational facilities available to your student.
3. Dropkick Murphys: Dropkick Murphys is hitting the road again with punk legends Pennywise and Dublin rock band The Scratch for a fall North American tour. They are ending the tour with a bang on October 27th at the Mullins Center.Tickets must be purchased separately. 
4. Informative Sessions: Attend informative sessions covering topics such as student resources, career development, and campus life.
5. PondFire: Connect with other families, share experiences, and participate in a campus tradition.

Registration Information: Registration is required for Family Weekend. Family Weekend registration is separate from tickets to athletic events. Registration information will be posted once registration for 2025 Family Weekend is available.

Gameday Information

Massachusetts Athletics invited 2024 Family Weekend visitors to UMass hockey and football games! On the night of Friday, October 25, UMass hockey hosted the UConn Huskies. On Saturday, October 26, families enjoyed a beautiful fall New England afternoon at McGuirk Alumni Stadium as the Minutemen took on Wagner.

Note: If you want to sit with your student, you must purchase a ticket for them as well. Otherwise, students attend the games for free, but must sit in the student section. Packages are limited. We recommend that you purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Tickets must be purchased no later than 6 p.m. Sunday, October 20 to ensure timely delivery.

Parking During Family Weekend: Parking at UMass will be affected during Family Weekend due to the football game. Some lots will have parking restrictions. For more information about parking availability during Family Weekend, please visit the Football Game Day Lot Closures page on the UMass Transportation Services website.

Accommodation and Travel: If you require accommodations during your visit, we recommend booking early to secure the best options. Visit our Family Weekend website for information on local accommodations, travel recommendations, and more.

Making a Difference for Students in Need: As part of our Family Weekend activities, we will be collecting gifts for the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (SCERF). SCERF is a vital campus resource that helps students cover expenses associated with food and housing, medical and basic health needs, childcare, technology, and more.
