New Students Orientation is your first taste of life at UMass Amherst. It is also our first chance to welcome you in person, with all the warmth and enthusiasm a letter of admission simply can’t convey.
Orientation, as you probably know, is a comprehensive introduction to the university. You’ll meet fellow students, discuss your academic path with an advisor, select classes, and get your UCard. You will also have the chance to participate in workshops, learn about extracurricular activities, finalize your housing plans, and hear what students, faculty, and staff have to say about your opportunities as a UMass Amherst undergrad.
New Students Orientation welcomes students and families to the university community and introduces them to the academic and social facets of campus life. Throughout their participation in our summer, fall, and winter programs, students and families learn to successfully navigate the physical campus and are prepared to use the appropriate academic, support and extracurricular resources available to them.
