The Writing Center invites students, faculty and staff to an open house in the newly renovated space in the Learning Commons on the lower level of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library, on Thursday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will include a day of activities, workshops, coffee and conversation, including:
Graduate Student Write-In, 9-11 a.m.: Graduate students will be given two hours of focused writing time in a quiet, distraction-free space. Participants should bring their writing project and a laptop and the Writing Center will provide the space and coffee to accomplish their day’s writing goals.
Writers’ Block Party, 11 a.m.- to noon: This workshop provides strategies for moving beyond writers block; getting a writing project started, resisting procrastination, and making progress on long writing projects. All are welcome.
Writing Center Open House, noon to 2 p.m.: Tutors and directors will be present to discuss programs and practices and answer questions. The campus community is invited. Refreshments will be served.
