AMHERST, Mass. – The annual Walk for Light tours led by the University of Massachusetts Amherst Police Department will begin Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m., leaving from the Student Union steps.
The Walk for Light is an opportunity for students and staff to work together to identify safety-related issues on campus and document those concerns for repair or other follow-up. These observations may include identifying areas of concern due to poor or broken lighting, overgrown trees or bushes that reduce lighting, broken railings or uneven steps, new paths due to ongoing construction, or other safety-related issues. A final report is then compiled and sent to the appropriate departments for follow-up and repair.
Leaders will assign participants into groups that will head to different areas of campus to conduct the inspections.
