AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Student Government Association-sponsored "Walk for Light" will be held Thurs., Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
Interested participants will gather on the steps of the Student Union and divide into groups to walk predetermined routes on campus, taking note of any safety concerns along the way. All members of the campus community are invited to participate.
The "Walk for Light" is scheduled once each semester, and is organized in collaboration with the Campus Safety Summit, a committee of students, faculty, and staff that meets regularly to address campus safety issues.
In the past, the "Walk for Light" has directly resulted in the installation of additional police call boxes, improved lighting on campus, and pruning of vegetation.
