Update on Mail and Package Deliveries to and From China

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) continues to have a temporary suspension of the guarantee on Priority Mail Express International destined for China and Hong Kong, effective Feb. 10, as a result of widespread airline cancellations and restrictions into those areas.

As a consequence, and "starting immediately," USPS said it can no longer accept items destined for China, Hong Kong and Macao "until sufficient transport capacity becomes available."

Customers may see delays in mail and packages to and from China. China Post says delays should be expected in mail transport, processing and delivery.

While USPS continues to accept mail destined to areas affected by the coronavirus, the coronavirus has caused some significant disruption of service in multiple countries globally.

These are the national postal services which have announced mailing issues as a result of the coronavirus:

  • United States Postal Service
  • China Post
  • Deutsche Post (Germany)
  • Singapore Post
  • Swiss Post
  • Post Danmark (Denmark)
  • Georgian Post
  • Hellenic Post (Greece)
  • Posta Româna (Romania)
  • Posta Serbia (Serbia)
  • Spain

For urgent deliveries, it’s best to use express shipping methods, as these have remained largely functional during the outbreak.
