Update on Building Access

As a result of the end of fall semester face-to-face instruction and due to all winter session instruction being delivered remotely, a limited number of buildings will remain unlocked from Nov. 30, 2020 through Jan. 31, 2021.

Certain buildings that host research and support functions will be unlocked during weekdays. All other buildings will remain locked. However, any UMass employee with existing UCard or key access to buildings will continue to have the same access. If you are a faculty member who may be planning to access campus buildings to deliver remote instruction during this time and you don’t currently have the appropriate access for the building and room, please complete the web form linked below to request access (key or Ucard depending upon building). Faculty and staff can request a key or UCard access through forms on the Facilities & Campus Services website:

1) For metal key requests, please go to the online Facilities & Campus Services Metal Key Request Form.

2) For UCard access requests, please go to the online Facilities & Campus Services Card Access Request Form.

Please refer to this map and a related list of campus buildings for their status.

Cleaning of Buildings

Facilities supervisors will be touring all buildings to review and audit levels of cleaning and disinfecting. Building occupants who have questions can contact the Facilities Solutions Center 24/7 at 413-545-6401 or work with their building coordinator or facilities customer service representative. For further details about cleaning protocols for unlocked buildings, locked buildings and research-active buildings, please read this summary.

These procedures have been implemented to prevent unauthorized access and to ensure the safety of university staff and property, and will be in place until further notice. Please stay updated on the latest guidance and news by visiting the campus reopening website at umass.edu/reopening.
