UMass Amherst Sponsors Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive for Community

WHAT:       Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive: Free and Open to All
WHERE:    UMass Amherst Transit Building Parking Lot, corner of Governors Drive and Holdsworth Way (directions)

In an ongoing celebration of Earth Day at UMass Amherst, the public is invited to test-drive or ride in electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids, including such brands as BMW, Chevy, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, Nissan, Tesla and VW. The test drive and vendor fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., workshops will be offered at which attendees will learn about the newest EVs and can talk with EV owners and manufacturers about costs, mileage, range and perks, including a 20 percent discount on UMass parking fees and the availability of EV charging stations on campus. Information about federal and state tax incentives and rebates of $1,000 also will be available.

This event, which will be held rain or shine, is co-sponsored by UMass Transit Services, UMass Parking Services, Sustainable UMass, UMass Workplace Education and the Pioneer Valley Electric Automobile Association.
