UMass Amherst College of Engineering to Bestow Outstanding Alumni Awards

AMHERST, Mass. – The College of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will present its seventh annual Outstanding Alumni Awards during Homecoming Weekend. The college’s Homecoming Reception and Awards Celebration will be held Friday, Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the Marriott Room on the 11th floor of the Campus Center.

During the reception, theCollege of Engineering will present its Outstanding Senior and Junior Alumni Awards to eight individuals whose exemplary accomplishments epitomize the potential of an education at the college. These gifted alumni embody the college’s mission to educate the engineering leaders of tomorrow and help drive the economy of today.

Recipients of the Outstanding Senior Alumni Award have brought recognition and honor to the College of Engineering through their professional achievements, leadership and service to the profession, university and society. This year’s award-winners are Roberto Padovani, electrical and computer engineering; Edward S. Price, chemical engineering; Martin C. Ross, mechanical and industrial engineering; and John P. Sullivan, Jr., civil and environmental engineering.

Recipients of the Outstanding Junior Alumni Award are worthy ambassadors for the College of Engineering and have shown extraordinary effort and notable success in their early careers. This year the recipients are Vered Bisker-Leib, chemical engineering; Aaron M. Dollar mechanical and industrial engineering; Tiffany T. Labrie, civil and environmental engineering; and Justin S. Peavey, electrical and computer engineering.

The presentation of awards will be made by College of Engineering Dean Tim Anderson and the four department heads: John Klier, chemical engineering; John E. Tobiason, civil and environmental engineering, substituting for Richard Palmer; Christopher V. Hollot, electrical and computer engineering; and Sundar Krishnamurty, mechanical and industrial engineering.
