The Theatre Guild will be performing a new musical retelling of “The Addams Family” in the Bowker Auditorium in Stockbridge Hall March 21-23.

In this rendition daughter Wednesday Addams (Samantha D’Orazio), renowned for her darkness, has grown up and fallen in love. The catch is that she’s fallen for a smart, normal young man named Lucas Beineke (Brennan Stefanik). Wednesday confides in her father Gomez Addams (Eddie Pizzano) about it and now he must withhold the secret from his wife Morticia Addams (Amy Butts).

Lucas and his parents Mal and Alice Beineke (Kevin Lundstrom and Jessi Dimmock) are set to meet with Wednesday’s family for dinner one fateful night at the Addams house. This comedy is directed by psychology and theater major Greg Ford and co-director and theater major Eileen Vandewalle.

The Theater Guild, founded in 1906, is an entirely student-run theater experience for UMass and Five College students.

The directors say the show is suitable for all audiences with no evident inappropriate themes or language.

The musical will have four performances on March 21, 22 and 23. There will be 7 p.m. performances all three days in addition to a 1 p.m. matinee on March 23. Tickets can be bought online in advance through the UMass Fine Arts Center website or at the door to Bowker Auditorium prior to performances. Student, faculty/staff and senior tickets are $8 and general admission is $12. The show is funded in part by the UMass Arts Council.

Visit the Theater Guild’s website or Facebook page for more information on the show.
