Swordsmanship Symposium is April 26

Renaissance Center will host its 10th annual symposium on historical European martial arts  on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Speakers from around the country will present talks and demonstrations on various subjects relating to the practice of historical arms.

This year’s program includes Walter Green speaking on “The English Masters of Defense: The professional practice of a fencing guild 1540-1590 CE,” Jean Chandler on “Martial Arts, Warfare, and Late Medieval Urban Society: Debunking myths and searching for the reality of the world of the fencing masters,” and others.

The conference, held in the Reading Room and on the grounds of the Renaissance Center at 650 East Pleasant St. is free and lunch will be provided.
