Stellan Vinthagen of Sweden’s University of Gothenburg will speak on “The 4 Dimensions of Nonviolent Action: A Sociological Perspective” on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. in 904-08 Campus Center.
His talk is part of the Distinguished Speaker Series on Nonviolent Action and Civil Resistance sponsored by the psychology of peace and violence program.
Vinthagen is associate professor of sociology and a scholar-activist. He researches and lectures at department of social and behavioural studies, University West and School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg. He is also co-leader of the Resistance Studies Group at University of Gothenburg. His research is focused on resistance, power, social movements, nonviolent action, conflict transformation and social change. He has written or edited eight books and numerous articles.
