Roeper Lectures at Linguistics Conference in Norway
Linguistics professor Tom Roeper presented a keynote lecture at a conference on “Parallel Grammars and Multilingualism” held Oct. 16-18 at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.
The conference attracted the top scholars in the field of second language acquisition and bilingualism, said Roeper, who spoke on “Minimal Rules and the Special Role of L2 in Universal Grammar.”
Roeper reported that one of the topics that recurred several times during the conference was an article in the journal Target on second language research that he co-authored with Luiz Amaral, assistant professor in Spanish and Portuguese studies.
While in Norway, Roeper taught a course on “Multiple Grammars” to graduate students.
