Online Survey Seeks Preferences from Route 9 Travelers

The state Department of Transportation has commissioned a transit mobility alternatives study for the Northampton-Hadley-Amherst portion of Route 9, which is a major commuting artery for UMass Amherst employees and students.

The university is encouraging members of the campus community to participate in an online survey that is part of the study. The survey, which takes approximately two minutes to complete, is online at

Specifically, the online survey is collecting data on where, when, how frequently and why people travel along that section of Route 9.

The study is to be used to enhance the future transportation system for the towns of Amherst and Hadley, the City of Northampton, the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority and major institutions in the study area.

Participants’ information will be anonymous.
