Obituary: Joseph A. Stryszko, retired trades worker

Joseph A. Stryszko, 80, of Northampton, a retired trades worker at Physical Plant, died Oct. 15 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home.

Born in Hatfield, he was a lifelong Northampton resident and graduated from Northampton High School in 1948.

He was a private first class in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict.

He worked on campus as an HVAC technician and in several other departments until retiring in 1991 with more than 23 years of service.

He leaves his daughter, Mary Lou LaBarge, and her husband, Jeffry, of Northampton; his sons, Michael Stryszko of Easthampton, Mark Stryszko and his wife, Fiona, of Hatfield and Jody Stryszko of Northampton; a sister, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Betty, died in January. A son, Joseph Jr., died previously.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-6 p.m.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 18 from the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Northampton. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, South Deerfield.
