The UMassGives online fundraising event successfully raised more than $108,000 for the University of Massachusetts Amherst and boosted the number of alumni who donate to the university. The online fundraising event ran from Founders Day, Wednesday, April 29 through midnight on Thursday, April 30.
“The point of UMassGives is to encourage our entire campus community to show their pride and support for the university,” said Nathan Adams, executive director of annual giving at UMass Amherst. “We are grateful for the enthusiastic response of all those involved. One hundred and seventy six different areas of campus received gifts and that improves the campus for all of our current students, faculty, staff and community.”
Alumni, the largest group of supporters, made approximately 45 percent of the total gifts. The number of alumni donors jumped from 665 to 761, a 14 percent increase from last year. Gifts were received from a total of 1,686 alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of the university.
UMass Amherst Foundation board members contributed challenge funds to encourage giving.
