Volunteers from the university and Holyoke Public Schools prepare donations for displaced families from Puerto Rico.

As part of Giving Tuesday, the campus community donated winter clothes and toiletries to Holyoke Public Schools in support of displaced families arriving from Puerto Rico.

The effort, which was coordinated by the Chancellor’s Office and the Office of Student Affairs and Campus Life, collected more than 20 industrial-size garbage bags full of winter coats, hats, scarves, clothing, shoes and more.

These donated items are intended to help families that have relocated to Holyoke following Hurricane Maria.

Additional donations will be collected through Dec. 1, and a final delivery will be made to the school system in early December.
