AMHERST, Mass. - The W.E.B. Du Bois Library (the main library at the University of Massachusetts Amherst) will be closed to all staff and users at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24 and will reopen on Sunday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m. To support the UMass Amherst campus telephone system, a new back-up generator will be installed in the building during the Thanksgiving weekend. The generator will provide an alternate source of electricity for the telephone system in the event of power loss. The installation work involves a gas line and so requires that the building be vacant for a 72-hour period.
The two campus science libraries, the Biological Sciences Library in the Morrill Science Center and the Physical Sciences and Engineering Library in the Lederle Graduate Research Center will be open as planned, 8:00 am.-5:00 p.m., on Friday, November 26. All libraries will be closed Thursday, November 25 and Saturday, November 27.
