A presentation and training session by staff of The Conversation, a digital publication that helps research reach a wide audience, is being held Wednesday, March 7 at noon in the Hadley Room of the Campus Center.

The speakers will be Ari Fertig, manager of university editorial relations, and Maggie Villiger, senior science and technology editor at The Conversation. They will discuss why academics should write for the general public, how academics can learn to pitch to media outlets, and the benefits of reaching a wide audience through The Conversation model.

UMass Amherst is a founding partner of The Conversation and campus scholars have been republished in outlets such as Newsweek, Business Insider, Quartz, Fast Company, Huffington Post, Salon, U.S. News and World Report and Time.

Light refreshments will be provided at the session, which is sponsored by the Public Engagement Project.
