AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts has awarded a five-year contract to Ogden Entertainment Inc., of New York, N.Y., for management of the facility and novelty concessions at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center. Auxiliary services at UMass, which is partnering with Ogden, was awarded the contract for food and catering.
Besides its new five-year contract, Ogden, the private firm that has had the management contract since the Mullins Center opened in 1993, will have two additional, two-year renewals available at the University''s option, according to Ruth Yanka, associate to the vice chancellor for administration and finance. Ogden submitted combined bids for the management of the Mullins Center and the novelty concession, Yanka says. Ogden did not previously have the novelty concession, she says. The award was announced following completion of the standard state bidding process that included three bids for the management of the facility and one bid each for the food and concessions.
"This was a very competitive field and our selection committee spent a great deal of time reviewing the proposals," says Paul J. Page, vice chancellor for administration and finance. "We believe the final selection represents the best package of services available for the University, our students, staff, and faculty. We look forward to a continued strong working relationship with Ogden Entertainment."
