College of Engineering Outstanding Alumni Awards Set for Oct. 20

The College of Engineering will hold its eighth annual Outstanding Alumni Awards Celebration on Friday, Oct.  20 at 4:30 p.m. in the Marriott Room on the 11th floor of the Campus Center. Outstanding senior and junior alumni awards will be given to eight individuals who, through exemplary accomplishments, epitomize the potential of an education at the college.

Dean Tim Anderson will present the awards.

Recipients of the 2017 Outstanding Senior Alumni Award have brought recognition and honor to the college through their professional achievements, leadership and service to the profession, the university and society. This year’s winners are: Jon W. Dietrich of Northampton, an associate/senior transportation engineer for Fuss & O’Neill Inc.; Ellen J. Ferraro, director of research and technology within the Raytheon Company’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Advanced Technology business area; Spyros Michail, a director at Apple Inc. who leads the Worldwide Operations Team for Soft Goods; and Karin Rotem, senior vice president for Beverages Regional Research and Development teams in the global beverage category of PepsiCo.

Recipients of the 2017 Outstanding Junior Alumni Award are worthy ambassadors for the college and have shown extraordinary effort and notable success in their early careers. This year the recipients are: Marnie A. Bonner, a structures manager at Pratt & Whitney; Dawn T. Eriksen-Stapleton, a senior scientist at Pfizer in Andover; Yong Liu, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at New York University; and Heather A. Rothenberg, director of Trust and Safety Research at Uber Technologies Inc.
