The Graduate School Office of Professional Development and TRISCI at UMass are hosting a panel discussion, “The Civic Scientist: Translating Your Research to Broaden Your Impact,” on Thursday, March 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Life Sciences Laboratories, room S330-340.
The discussion will highlight ways to translate research into public engagement and policy development and give insight on careers in public policy.
This event features a panel of scientists and state representatives who will discuss the critical intersection of science and policy and help researchers understand how they can effectively engage in science advocacy, communication and policy for the public good.
Panelists include state Rep. Michael J. Finn, state Rep. Aaron Vega, Brindha Muniappan of the Discovery Museum and Jessica W. Tsai of the STEM Advocacy Institute.
A limited number of seats are available at a luncheon with panelists following the event.
Registration for the panel and/or lunch is required.
