The university has recently made several announcements related to its Campus Climate study, including the release of its unit reports, funding for projects that will improve the campus climate and the development of an ambassador team.

The Campus Climate Unit Reports highlight areas of strength and weakness for each school, college and executive area. This data is intended to help the UMass Amherst community develop localized goals to join with institutional strategies, which will move the university toward creating a more inclusive campus.

To help facilitate these changes, Campus Climate Improvement Grants will fund projects and activities that actively foster engagement and build community. The grants are available to students, faculty and staff and will range from $250 to $2,500. Proposals for funding are due by Feb. 6.

A spring 2018 Campus Climate Ambassador Team will also help reshape the campus climate both within units and across the institution. The team will include faculty, staff and students who will engage with their peers in purposeful conversations about areas for improvement and meaningful ways to make change. Applications and nominations for ambassadors are due by Feb. 15.

The Campus Climate Survey was conducted in November 2016 to better understand the challenges of creating a community respectful of and inclusive for all.
