Erin Baker, the Armstrong Professional Development Professor and professor of industrial engineering, was a keynote speaker at the 2017 International Energy Workshop (IEW) held July 12-14 at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The IEW brings the international energy modeling community together to compare and understand the range of views about future energy developments.

Baker’s talk “Robust Energy Technology Policy: Finding Common Ground” addressed the question of how to support decision making when policy makers are faced with conflicting information.

Two of Baker’s Ph.D. students, Zana Cranmer and Destenie Nock, also presented work, on the value of offshore wind energy and on the challenges faced by the Northern Ireland electric grid.
