The public is invited to learn more about campus agriculture on Saturday, Sept. 28 when five UMass gardens will be open for tours between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Visitors to the Agricultural Learning Center and Student Farming Enterprise at 911 North Pleasant St. can help harvest fall crops and see urban and herb gardens from 10 a.m. to noon.
From 10-11 a.m., there will be a tour of the award-winning Franklin Permaculture Gardens, followed by workday activities until 1 p.m.
From noon to 5 p.m., Garden Share on Tillson Farm Road will feature cider pressing, a potluck, garden food and music.
The new replica 16th century kitchen garden at the Renaissance Center will be open from 3-5 p.m. with herbal tea and leaf tasting. The center is at 650 East Pleasant St.
The event takes place rain or shine. Pets must be leashed.
