Haffer, originally of Belmont, is the president of a South Dakota company that has licensed from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center the exclusive, worldwide rights to an issued patent for veterinary applications of DNA Vaccines for Rotavirus Infections.
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts is organizing a state-wide research conference for undergraduates to take place Fri. May 1 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. It is believed to be the first such state-wide undergraduate research conference in the United States.

May 24, in Warren P. McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Acting Gov. Argeo Paul Cellucci will attend the ceremonies to deliver the greetings of the commonwealth. Approximately 4,000 undergraduates are candidates for bachelor’s degrees.

AMHERST, Mass. - Climatologists at the University of Massachusetts have reconstructed the global temperature over the past 600 years, determining that three recent years, 1997, 1995, and 1990, were the warmest years since at least AD 1400. The study, which was conducted by Michael Mann and Raymond Bradley of the geosciences department, along with University of Arizona colleague Malcolm Hughes, is detailed in the April 23 issue of the journal Nature.
