The 2020 Best Global Universities guide published by U.S. News and World Report ranks UMass Amherst No. 4 in the comprehensive subject area of Agricultural Sciences. The rankings consider the top 1,500 universities across 81 countries.
Ernest Pharmaceuticals, a startup venture based at the UMass Institute of Applied Life Sciences (IALS), is one of four companies to win $2,500 from the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center (MTTC) in a business pitch poster competition in Boston. Internationally recognized climate scientist and Distinguished Professor Raymond S. Bradley at UMass Amherst has been elected an International Fellow in the Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences Division of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) for “major contributions to our understanding of the nature and causes of climate change.”

McCormack Department of Sport Management graduate program - which includes an MS and an MBA/MS in sport management - has been ranked the number one postgraduate program in the world for 2019 by SportBusiness. The McCormack Department of Sport Management ranked second in both 2017 and 2018.
The U.S. National Academy of Sciences announced this week the election of 100 new members to the academy in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. They include Lila M. Gierasch, distinguished professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and chemistry at UMass Amherst.
