AMHERST, Mass. - The College of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts will celebrate its 50th anniversary this coming weekend, Sept. 26-28, with a series of events, including tours, presentations, lectures, and an awards dinner. The celebration will be held in conjunction with the University’s homecoming, convocation, and the Fall Festival. Although engineering courses have been offered on campus since 1913, the College of Engineering was formally established on Sept. 1, 1947, under Dean George M. Marston. The College now boasts more than 13,000 thousand living alumni, three-quarters of whom have remained in the state of Massachusetts to work and live.
