AMHERST, Mass. - The Women’s Studies Program, the Everywoman’s Center, and the Faculty Senate Council on the Status of Women at the University of Massachusetts will celebrate their 25th anniversaries with a Women Activists Reunion during the weekend of Sept. 25-28. Highlights include panel discussions led by Northampton Mayor Mary Ford and state Rep. Ellen Story, D-Amherst, and a lecture by UMass alumna Susan Crane, the co-founder of an international organization promoting projects in sexual and reproductive health. AMHERST, Mass. - A project to improve math and science teaching from kindergarten through college -- led by a physics professor at the University of Massachusetts and that involves eight western Massachusetts colleges and a number of public schools -- has received a $5 million, five-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant is one of just three such awards made across the nation by the NSF each year.
