Television Studio
UMass Amherst’s cutting-edge television studio allows national and international broadcast networks to conduct live, high-definition, remote interviews with our faculty, administrators and students. Located just minutes from the heart of campus, the addition of this studio eliminates hours of unnecessary travel time for our campus’ experts looking to speak with high-profile media.
The studio houses all of the amenities of a 21st-century broadcast studio. The high quality HD ReadyCam camera system is connected via high-speed, low-latency fiber to a Boston-based production facility, where engineers are on-site 24 hours a day to manage all of the technical logistics necessary to connect our experts with broadcast outlets around the world. A professional LED lighting grid illuminates guests positioned in front of a large-screen electronic background that displays UMass branded images or videos. Studio-grade audio and a professional teleprompter ensure that guests’ messages are clear in both their execution and delivery.
There is even a makeup and grooming kit available so that our guests look their best, even after a long day of classes or grading papers.
The studio, located in the Slobody Building on University Drive, has been used to connect our experts with NBC Nightly News, CNN International, Fox Business Network, Al Jazeera English and CTV Canada, among other networks. In addition to live television interviews, the studio is also available to record interviews for video news releases or web videos.
