Women Who Build Summit Draws Hundreds to Campus

On Feb. 19 and 20, the campus hosted nearly 345 construction professionals for the Women Who Build Summit.

The event, organized by the Construction Institute, was hosted in the Campus Center and featured a tour of campus architecture. This is the summit’s first year at UMass Amherst, previously being hosted at Goodwin College in East Hartford, Connecticut.

The event’s welcome greeting featured remarks by Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy, Carolina Cudemus-Jones, director of design and construction management at UMass Amherst and Nancy Greenwald, executive director of the Construction Institute. Barbara Kroncke, Executive Director of the University of Massachusetts Building Authority, was part of a panel discussion on leadership in construction.

The summit is attended by architects, engineers, contractors, lawyers, accountants and other professionals in the construction industry. The annual event promotes the strength and rise of women in the construction industry. Attendees represented 10 states and 100 organizations. The program was free to Five College Students.
