Sustainable Planting Design Expert to Open LARP Lecture Series

Claudia West, a key advocate for the field of sustainable planting design, will kick off the department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning (LARP) spring Zube Lecture Series on Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. in 170 John W. Olver Design Building.

West is a principal with the landscape architecture firm Phyto Studio in Arlington, Virginia, and co-author of the critically acclaimed book “Planting in a Post-Wild World.”

The series is named in honor of Erv Zube, who is internationally known for leading efforts to increase academic research among landscape architecture faculty. He was LARP department head from 1974-80.

Zube and his wife Margaret were the major contributors to the endowment that supports the weekly series a variety of experts to campus.

All 10 of the spring Zube talks will be presented on Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. in 170 John W. Olver Design Building. All talks are free and open to the public.
