Renowned Whistleblower and Political Activist Daniel Ellsberg To Discuss Career, Activism and Vital Issues of the Day

*** MEDIA ADVISORY ***

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at 6 p.m. at WGBH in Boston

Daniel Ellsberg, one of the nation’s foremost political activists and whistleblowers, will discuss his life’s work and current public affairs in a conversation with award-winning journalist Charles Sennott.

Following a decade as a high-level government official, researcher and consultant, Ellsberg distributed the top-secret Pentagon Papers in 1971, exposing decades of deceit by American policymakers during the Vietnam War. His subsequent decades of activism have focused on the dangers of nuclear weapons, wrongful U.S. interventions and the need for patriotic whistleblowing. Ellsberg’s personal papers were recently acquired by UMass Amherst.

Sennott is an award-winning correspondent, best-selling author and editor with 30 years in international, national and local journalism. He is a 1984 UMass Amherst graduate.

The event is co-sponsored by UMass Amherst and WGBH. Media are invited to attend.
