Nataly Kelly, Inaugural Gentzler-Isenberg Multidisciplinary Diem Executive-in-Residence, to Visit Campus March 31
Faculty members from the Edwin C. Gentzler Translation Center and the Isenberg School of Management have come together to create the Gentzler-Isenberg Multidisciplinary Diem Executive-in-Residence program, a new program that seeks to expose UMass Amherst students to experts at the intersection of language and business, and the different career opportunities that interdisciplinary work can offer.
The program is the product of a collaboration between Regina Galasso, director of the Gentzler Translation Center and associate professor of languages, literatures and cultures in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts (HFA), and Isenberg’s Verónica Martín Ruiz, assistant professor of marketing, and Tom Woodside, lecturer of marketing.
The program’s inaugural Executive-in-Residence will be Nataly Kelly, a tech executive with global cross-cultural experience who currently serves as chief marketing officer at Zappi, a U.K.-based consumer insights platform. During her day on campus on March 31, Kelly will visit three marketing classes and speak to students taking the course “Spanish Translation for Community Health Services” on how interpreter training and experience shaped her approach to leading global teams, building brands and putting humans at the center of every business decision. She will also informally engage with students during meals sponsored by Isenberg and the Gentzler Translation Center.
Kelly will end the day by addressing the Marketing Club on “The Unconventional Path to CMO: What Great Marketing is Really Made Of,” where she will again draw on her experience as an interpreter, a bilingual, and a former Fulbright scholar in Spanish sociolinguistics. The address, part of the club’s Marketing Career Speaker Series, is scheduled for 7 p.m. in ISOM N145 and is open to the public.
More information about Kelly’s visit and the Gentzler-Isenberg Multidisciplinary Diem Executive-in-Residence program can be found on the Isenberg website.
