The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is extending the application deadline for 2020 Campus Climate Improvement Grants to May 4. The extension is meant to provide additional time for the campus community to apply in light of the adjustments needed for applicants in the move to remote learning and working.

Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff are encouraged to submit their creative ideas for fostering connection on campus in the upcoming academic year. These grants, ranging from $250 to $2,500, are intended to support projects that help build community and create a more inclusive campus. OEI invites projects that create resources, events, or programming that encourage conversation and connection across race, religion, class, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability and nationality, in order to increase opportunities for greater belonging and further strengthen our community.

The funded projects have previously included film series, book clubs, workshops, art exhibits, lectures, events and more. Participation by students, staff and faculty in this initiative since its inception in 2017 have been key in helping the campus move forward in creative and effective ways as we work towards making UMass a community of choice for all.

In order to qualify, applicants must have either attended an info session at the start of the semester, or arrange to speak to Emmanuel Adero to review the application process and the makings of an effective proposal. Please contact Eddie Gorry to schedule a zoom meeting with Emmanuel Adero at diversityadmin@umass.edu.
