‘Hate Before and After Pittsburgh’ Anti-Semitism Teach-in Scheduled
The department of Judaic and Near Eastern studies and the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies (IHGMS) are sponsoring a teach-in, “Hate Before and After Pittsburgh,” on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. in the Bernie Dallas Room, Goodell Hall.
The event is a response to anti-Semitism, racism and white nationalism in contemporary America.
A panel of faculty from across campus will highlight the particularities of rising anti-Semitism and link it to broader challenges to minority groups in the country today. The teach in will underscore the importance of fostering a climate of tolerance and inclusion on campus.
A candlelight procession from Goodell Hall to the Student Union will follow the teach-in. In memory of those killed at the Tree of Life Congregation, there will be a brief reading of the names of the dead and the Jewish mourner’s kaddish from 5:30-6:30.
