Recap of Connecting Communities Workshop
NEUTC successfully hosted a two-day Connecting Communities Workshop last month, bringing together attendees to foster important conversations. The purpose of the workshop was to highlight the importance of applying a community-centered approach to public outreach and engagement for transportation research.
The first day of the interactive workshop featured discussions on planning, data, and outreach. It focused on the purpose and need for community engagement, issues with data and options for new approaches. The workshop used real projects to develop a community-centered plan for outreach. The day concluded with a networking reception, allowing attendees to connect and discuss these topics further.
The second day focused on tactics and methods for effective engagement. Attendees were able to discuss the previous day's topics in more depth and the same projects were used to develop a community-centered engagement plan.
Two guest speakers from MassDOT, Liz Williams and Hung Pham, joined the workshop to share their valued insights. The workshop was a great success, bringing together attendees to discuss these important topics.
