Student-Employee Exchange Program with MassDOT
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and UMass Amherst are partnering up for a student-employee exchange program. Students have the opportunity for hands-on experiences through MassDOT, while employees can participate in research and learning on campus.
These opportunities will allow MassDOT employees to further their skills and learn about innovative transportation research on-campus. Students will gain new experiences through MassDOT resources, building their resume and enhancing their technical skills.
“We’re excited to establish the Exchange Program with UMass Amherst, creating a pipeline of young people interested in public service, while allowing our current employees to hone their skills and keep up with the latest developments in transportation research,” Monica Tibbits-Nutt, Transportation Secretary and CEO said.
A select amount of UMass students will spend valuable time working at MassDOT facilities through experiential learning opportunities. MassDOT staff can attend a UMass class and collaborate in research with the UMass Transportation Center.
The application process ends at the end of November and the exchange program will begin in January.
