In May, NEUTC hosted Peter Koonce at UMass Amherst’s Mt. Ida Campus for his lecture, Saved by a Traffic Engineer. Here he discussed the challenges of applying a safe systems approach under the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), shared recent updates to the industry, and offered insights into future direction and best practices.
In March, NEUTC helped host a Cyber Informed Engineering Workshop, discussing important issues involving cyber threats on transportation systems. The event was a huge success with 40 attendees.
NEUTC congratulates Dr. Bryan Reimer on his appointment to the FAA’s HF Task Force ARC, recognizing his leadership in transportation safety and human-technology interaction.
NEUTC held a two-day Connecting Communities Workshop, fostering important conversations about the importance of applying a community-centered approach to public outreach and engagement for transportation research. The workshop had visitors from MassDOT and real projects to create community centered plans.
