NAL Welcomes Sara

The NAL is excited to welcome Sara Donnelly, an undergraduate student in the Nutrition Department, to the lab. Sara has been an active member of the UMass community. Sara helped expand the Plant-Based Nutrition Club and volunteers with the Student Food Recovery Network which brings food from UMass dining to various locations in Amherst to provide free and healthy food for individuals who are food insecure. This summer Sara volunteered in Leogane, Haiti with YourStory International, which provides public health education and free health care to an impoverished region of Haiti.

In the NAL Sara will be writing a systematic literature review on trends in diet quality and food groups in the U.S. from the 1900s to today. She will be completing her honors thesis with the NAL on the association between the Intuitive Eating Index Score, body composition, and diet quality. Sara will graduate with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics in May 2019.

Sara is interested in eating behaviors, low income populations, women's health and international nutrition. After graduation she plans to complete a dietetic internship and will pursue maternal and international nutrition and hopes to work in other third world countries providing nutritional education and health care.
